Reasons Why Plagiarism Is a Common Practice by Students

Plagiarism means to snatch or to copy something. This is the most commonly used word these days due to its growing practice. This world has become a global village, information on almost everything is available on internet and it’s just one click away from users. This increasing usage and convenience on the other side is creating a negative impact because people are using this for unethical manners. The best example is the plagiarism activity these days. Students when are to write something which requires referring books and reading material, copy from internet. Because they believe that it’s the easy way out.

Most of the time students who are asked to prepare a research paper or any other academic write-up use this technique. They look over internet copy their required stuff and submit it. The basic reason behind this activity is the mismanagement of time by them. They don’t focus on their write-ups until the deadline is near and at that time they only left with this option because it’s easy and less tiring than anything else. This practice is also adopted when a student is least interested about a course, don’t like the faculty/instructor or is simply lazy. At times students who works to earn their living or to finance their studies adopt this practice. For them it’s their need but this need can be fulfilled by other means as well, plagiarism is not the only option. They should be given proper guidelines. Further, they must be told about its consequences so that they can avoid this practice.

Instructors should also rectify this activity and address it properly to lessen it down. They need to explain this to students. They should have counseling sessions with students to resolve their problems which become the reason of plagiarism. They can even provide the reading material to students which will help them in completing their write-ups or they can even give them interesting topics which will motivate the student to write. Few class activities can also be planned to reduce this practice. On the other hands students should also understand the outcomes of plagiarism. They should ask questions if they don’t understand anything related to topic or can ask or reliable references from their instructors.

Students, who don’t have enough time to write their own paper, can consult research writing services to buy a research paper instead of copying it. These services take specifications from students and write custom write-ups for them. They charge some price to write these papers. But if a student is consulting such a service he must make sure the quality of write-up that is, it should be original and not copied. Few services do prove a quality assurance and plagiarism certificate which proves that the write-up is not plagiarized. But again it is advised to students that before submitting such copy of write-up they must verify it by ready it thoroughly.
